Description of the Top Lug

• Function:
  The top lug is welded to the upper end of the vertical locking pipe/rod. When the handle rotates the pipe, the lug turns and engages the top keeper mounted on the door frame, securing the door.

Location in the lock assembly:

• Mounted at the top end of the cam bar (pipe)

• Works with the top keeper bracket attached to the door frame

• Operates simultaneously with the bottom lug when the handle is turned

Construction:

• Typically steel or zinc-plated steel for corrosion resistance

• Designed as a weld-on part for the end of the pipe rod

Operation:

1. The handle rotates the vertical pipe.

2. The welded top lug rotates outward.

3. It hooks behind the top keeper bracket, locking the door.

4. Rotating the handle back disengages the lug so the door can open.
